Sunshine Coast takes out the 2014 World Surfaris Coast of Origin Interclub Series, Presented by Samoa Tourism Authority.

Boardriding clubs from all over South East Queensland packed the Coolum Beach to cheer on their clubs and “coast” as they battled for bragging rights, prizes and cash in the final day of competition for the three-event series.
In a seeswing battle, both coasts entered the final heat of the day on an equal 48 points leaving it up to the winners of the blue ribbon tag team to take it home for their coast.
It was North Shore Boardriders who emerged victorious in the tag team finale and bringing it home for the Sunshine coast.
Alister Reginato, Keely Andrew, Daman Weir and Jack Reginato from North Shore Boardriders completed an array of high performance manoeuvres which was enough to win over Burleigh, Coolum, Snapper in respective places.
Coolum Boardirder’s standout, Jaleesa Vincent (Coolum, QLD) blitzed the Open Women’s Queensland Club Championship scoring a stella 15.00 point heat total (out of a possible 20) against Alyssa Lock (Snapper Surfriders), Lucy Callister (Burleigh Boardriders) and Laura Poncini (Windansea Boardriders) in second, third and fourth respectively.
“I didn’t really have a game plan going into my heat although I noticed the judges were rewarding competitors on the sets,” says Vincent. The waves are so fun but real inconsistent so waiting for the bigger sets is probably what got me the win,” she continued.
In a stella finish of the Open Men’s Queensland Club Championship, Dale Locelock (Kawana Boardriders) took ownership of first place over Simon Kox (Coolum Boardriders) and Snapper Powerhouse surfers Corbin Hutchings and Mitch Parkinson.
Also showcasing a conspicuous performance was Daman Weir and Jack Reginato from North Shore Boardriders who surfed rings around former World Qualifying Series surfer Jay Phillips and rising star Quinn Bruce from Snapper Rocks Surfriders in the pair’s heat. Weir and Reginato scored and aggregate heat total of 16.44 (out of a possible 20) vs Snapper Rocks Surfriders 9.70 (Out of a possible 20).
For a fourth year running, Snapper Rocks Surfriders were again victorious in a convincing win taking out the overall Queensland club champion finishing with 36 points over Burleigh Boardriders (20 Points), Coolum Boardriders (17 Points).
Surfing Queensland’s representative Cory Roberts said, “It’s few and far between that we get to see such a high level of talent from Queensland’s grassroots surfing unite in one place for a weekend’s worth of heated competition.”
“Queensland surfers are undoubtedly some of the most passionate sporting athletes going around and having them compete for both their respective clubs and regions has only intensified the magnitude of competition already set within the World Surfaris Coast of Origin”, he added.
The World Surfaris Coast of Origin series presented by Samoa Tourism is also giving two affiliated Boardriders Club members the chance to win the trip of a lifetime to Samoa, the treasured islands of the South Pacific.
